There is an immediate opening on the Planning Commission for a new member from District 2. This is not a rumor!
You must be a resident of District 2, and if observation serves well, preference will be given to a Republican member of the Rotary Club.
Members of the Planning Commission don't get paid, or at least they don't get paid anything worth mentioning. But, they get to decide things like whether or not Danny Comer can build a house on his lot, whether Brenda Jolly can open a pet grooming business, and whether there can be a light on the cell phone tower so the helicopters don't hit it.
Also, they are deeply involved in the rezoning process which is trying very hard to occur.

A Republican member of the Luray Rotary Club for the new District 2 planning comm. member - the worst of both worlds!! But, surely it can't get any worse on the planning comm. than what's already on there, can it? Unfortunately, Alice's observation is most likely correct! And we wonder why we're in the mess we're in! Wake up citizens; until you decide to take our county back (from the clique) nothing, repeat NOTHING, is going to change!!! WE MUST EXORCIZE THE LEADERSHIP OF BOTH THE DEMOCRATIC (remember Brenda Merica's political assassination?) AND THE REPUBLICAN (can any of you forget the ongoing and ongoing debacle of the Sheriff's department?) PARTIES! Again, until we do, NOTHING is going to change!! Let us begin the exorcism on Nov.6th by voting all Independent (with the exception of Larry Sours for Dist. 2 Supervisor). Vote Pete Monteleone for Sheriff; Vote Allen Cubbage for Comm. of Rev. and Vote Jim Turner for Dist. 3 Supervisor. It'll be a great beginning of the end of the clique!!!
